I am sure a number of you are wondering why you have not heard any details regarding this year’s tournament. We were advised early in the year that portions of the park would be unavailable because the County is turfing the baseball fields. While this would have limited our setup it was not a major issue. We were about to send out our announcement about registration 10 days ago, when we were advised that the County will also be replacing the turf on the stadium field. That means the stadium field will also be unavailable on the first Saturday in June.
We went to the park over the weekend to see if there was any possible way for us to fit the necessary fields in the further limited space and it simply is not possible. Sadly, we had to make the decision tonight that we cannot hold the tournament in June. After losing two years to the pandemic and finally getting back together last year, this is devastating news for us to deliver. We are confident we will be back next year, with the whole park available for the tournament.
In the meantime, we are working on other events to bring all of us together to raise funds for breast cancer, including determining the feasibility of an indoor tournament in the fall.
